The first event for PLAN C (Professional Learning And Networking in Computing) will be held in the Boyd Orr building at the University of Glasgow from 9am-5.30pm on Friday the 13th of September.
Who this event is for
Computing teachers who would like to become a lead teacher for their area and support their colleagues in the first national programme of professional learning specifically for Computing Science.
Involvement in PLAN C as a lead teacher will give:-

you and your school professional recognition for supporting colleagues in your local area.

you regular lead teacher hub sessions with the core team and other lead teachers to apply the latest pedagogical content knowledge for CS to the senior phase qualifications.

access to summaries of the latest CS education research in a format that makes it easy to apply to your own practice.

a flexible set of National 4 & 5 appropriate materials and activities in year one of PLAN C and then for Higher in year two.

closer links with universities and colleges in your local area.
 Aims for the launch day

Provide insight into the very latest research on how to teach novices programming more effectively and overcome common difficulties.

Allow you to directly experience and then explore a range of active learning techniques that can enhance your existing National 4 and 5 Computing Science courses.

Give you a range of materials that you can use with your Computing Science pupils to enhance their level of understanding in the software design and development unit.

Cost
This is a completely free day of professional learning directly related to National 4 and 5 Computing Science and because you are considering becoming a lead teacher we’re also able to pay for your cover and travel costs.
